Sense Of Place

Study and respond to the dialect of a chosen place, in the form of a multi-page book. The final piece will communicate the identity of the chosen place, and should incorporate both type and image as a means to inform and engage your audience.

This book shows a selection of phrases from the dialect of Stoke-On-Trent. Each page has been designed to give the effect of letterpress, in response to the period of time that the dialect originated. As the dialect originated in the pot banks, as a means of communicating quickly, the back of the book holds a back-stamp, as with pottery.
